Cilento

Treasure chest

A land of strong contrasts, full of rugged mountains, welcoming beaches and cliffs overlooking the sea: landscapes, historical and cultural values really make Cilento one of a kind. The Cilento national park, second in Italy by extension, was recognized as a World Heritage Site in 1998 thanks to the ruins of Elea-Velia and Paestum Greek colonies and the splendid Certosa of San Lorenzo. In 2012 it was included in the world list of Geoparks by Unesco. Main center of the Mediterranean, Cilento is therefore the Park par excellence because it embodies the deepest spirit of this sea: richness in biodiversity, environmental interpenetration, history and a reference point for different civilizations.
